First Step to Advanced Driving Course

NQF Level–2 Advanced Driving Qualification
The National Qualifications Framework (NQF) sets out a level of achievement that can be easily recognised in England, Northern Ireland and Wales. It sets a standard, and against this benchmark, the First Step Advanced Driving Course carries a Level–2 award.
This course is our entry–level Nationally accredited driver training programme, but is by no means basic in either its content and the standard of achievement it asks of those who complete it.
Accredited by a figurehead in training and education, The Open College Network (OCN), the training programme carries a credit based qualification in modern defensive driving methods and provides an essential tool for anyone looking for an effective fleet driver training course for the purpose of ensuring the Health and Safety of their car and van drivers.

How The Training Course Can be Applied
The training course can be effectively applied to drivers of cars, passenger carrying and commercial vehicles or all types, and be completed in all areas of the UK mainland.
Through a process of development and assessment a driver who successfully completes The First Step Advanced Driving Course will have achieved a secure level of understanding of the type of vehicle they drive and of how to operate it safely and effectively within a public road environment.
By focusing on key areas of driving competencies it is a totally flexible training experience in that it can be tailored for the development of individual needs, as well as used to address more general training issues.
The driving course consists of an 8–hour programme, during which there is a practical driver training period, followed by a practical skills assessment and an oral test of acquired knowledge.
